Lil’ Kim has had a rough life. Her parenets split when she was nine and her father kicked her out a little while after that. She me the Notorious B.I.G. while she was practically living on the street. She joined Junior M.A.F.I.A. and began doing songs, rapping, and singing on some of their biggest hits. These included the album “Conspiracy”: “Player’s Anthem” (peaked at #7 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and #2 on the Hot Rap Tracks chart), “I Need You Tonight” (#43 R&B, #12 Rap), and “Get Money” (#17 on the Billboard Hot 100, #4 R&B, #2 Rap).
She then broke off on her own and began a solo career. Her debut album, Hard Core, was released in 1996. The album peaked at #11 on the Billboard 200 and #3 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. Hard Core was RIAA-certified double platinum on March 14, 2001. She became friends with P. Diddy, also known as Sean “Puff Daddy” Combs, who is also known as just Diddy now. She has done duets with Missy Elliott, Angie Martinez, Da Brat and Left Eye of TLC. She wrote a song that was part of the soundtrack to the Martin Lawrence movie Nothing To Lose, nominated for a Grammy Award.

She was a part of P Diddy’s “No Way Out” tour. She release an album called The Notorious K.I.M. She achieved an insane amount of publicity with her biggest hit to date with collaboration with Pink, Christina Aguilara, and Mya in “Lady Marmalade” which stayed at #1 for five straight weeks. She won a Grammy and became super famous.
